In this module we explore how you can be an effective team leader and inspire members of your team to succeed.

Maximize the Success and Engagement of Your Hybrid Team: Setting the Stage for Success

(12 minutes)

In this module we meet Charlie. He is leading a new hybrid team in which members of his team will have the flexibility to work from the office or work remotely. While he has successfully led teams in the office and remote teams he has a sense that leading a hybrid team will be different than his previous experiences. While there are many benefits to working hybrid he realizes there will be challenges too. How can Charlie maximize the success and engagement of his hybrid team? And how can you? In this module we explore five strategies for leading a hybrid team.

Leading a Hybrid Team Part 1: Meetings and Communications

(10 minutes)

In many ways leading a hybrid team is different than leading a team that works entirely in the office or entirely remote. The playing field may not be level. There can be uncertainty – and blind spots - around how things work. Leaders can inadvertently send messages they don’t intend – around who’s important to them and who isn’t – or what’s important and what isn’t. In a hybrid team the role of the leader is amplified. In this module the first in a two-part series we’ll explore meetings and communication within your hybrid team.

Leading a Hybrid Team Part 2: Assignments and Performance Management

(12 minutes)

As a leader you set the tone for how the team communicates, how decisions are made, how performance is managed, and ultimately how included, valued, and engaged members of your team feel. With some people working in the office and others working remotely some of your management approaches will need to shift so you can maximize the success and engagement of your hybrid team. In this module the second in a two-part series we’ll explore some potential shifts around making assignments and managing performance.

Five Fundamentals for Supervising Remote Workers

(8 minutes)

Remote work is becoming increasingly popular and accepted across the legal industry and beyond. The colleagues we work with and rely on each day can be located just about anywhere. And while working remotely can offer many benefits (and may sometimes even be a necessity) it can also introduce a unique set of challenges. In this module we’ll explore the top 5 fundamentals supervisors can apply to make remote work a success – for them, for their direct reports, and for the firm and its clients.

Managing Remote Teams: Communication

(9 minutes)

These days it is increasingly rare for entire teams to exist in a single geographic location. The colleagues we work with and rely on each day can be widely dispersed – across offices and even across time zones. Managing teams of this nature introduces a unique set of challenges. In this module we’ll examine and hone in on one of the most critical and often one of the most challenging aspects of leading remote teams: Communication.

Becoming an Effective Interviewer

(9 minutes)

An interview is a great opportunity -- to evaluate a candidate, determine if there is a fit, highlight the merits of the role and the firm, and create a lasting positive impression -- of yourself and the firm. In this module we explore what it takes to prepare for and conduct an effective interview. We also guide you through a sample interview that illustrates the do's and don'ts of interviewing as well as the types of questions to ask -- and the types to avoid. As a result you'll be able to maximize the impact and effectiveness of every interview.

Behavioral Interviewing

(13 minutes)

In today's job market it is increasingly important to make good hiring decisions. How can you assess whether a candidate has the right background and experience to meet the firm's needs? Behavioral interviewing encourages interviewers to explore past behavior as a predictor of future behavior and performance. In this module we explore how to prepare for a behavioral interview, how to obtain quality information during the interview, and how to evaluate the information you receive to determine the best fit for the firm.

Communicating with Your Team in a Time of Uncertainty

(3 minutes)

Communicating with your team is always important. But in times of uncertainty and rapid change its importance is amplified. In times like these your workforce needs to hear from you. They are looking for reassurance, for clarity, for direction, and for hope. How can you rise to the challenge and provide what they need amid the uncertainty? Start with these five fundamentals.

Everything you need to develop fundamental management and leadership skills for today’s way of working.
